my philosophy of practice
My experience as a physical therapist has afforded me the opportunity to devote the time, attention, and skill it takes to identify and treat the source of a person’s problem in the body. I treat each person I work with in the context of their medical background, history of injury, experience as a mover, learning style, and any other relevant factors. In my years of practice, I have learned time and again the power of movement — especially mindful movement. It is my passion to use Pilates principles and equipment to provide my clients with the empowering capability of body awareness. I strive to help my clients instill confidence in themselves, establish a joyful relationship with movement, and facilitate a safe progression toward healing. I strongly believe that the process toward recovery from an injury can often times simply be the beginning of a journey into lifelong positive movement with your body.
my background
clinical
Over my years as a physical therapist, I have worked in both the inpatient and outpatient settings with patients who have orthopedic, cardiopulmonary, and neurological dysfunction. I specialize in the treatment of older adults with balance disorders or dizziness, vestibular therapy, and those with complex neurological conditions (including stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, MS, and others). As an athlete, I very much enjoy working with active individuals looking to return to or improve their performance in their sport. Contact me to see if I’m the right therapist for you.
education
I obtained my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from The George Washington University after having graduated from the Florida State University with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. I am a graduate of the Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training through Polestar Pilates and am certified as a pilates instructor through the National Pilates Certification Program.
east coast to west coast
Originally from Miami, Florida, I traded missing sunrises for catching sunsets when I moved to Santa Cruz in 2018. The balance this place provides with its unique landscape set amidst the ferocious Pacific Ocean, the Redwood forests, and the Santa Cruz Mountains is inspiring. When not adventuring in the Sierras, my partner and I reside in the Seabright neighborhood and frequently enjoy sunset walks to the Walton lighthouse. Aside from pilates and physical therapy, my passions include rock climbing, trail running, skiing, paddle-boarding, and playing music.
